Additional new panel settings for the Tyros4 can be directly downloaded from the Internet.
Enhanced features for directly connecting to the Internet
The Tyros4 can also be directly connected to the Internet with the Internet Direct Connection function, allowing you to download special content without the need for a computer. Enhancements include a convenient, easy-to-use IDC Setup Wizard, as well as new security options, with WPA2 and WPA.
AudioRecording
No need for separate recording hardware—you can record your keyboard performance as well as your own singing or the sound of other instruments directly to the Tyros4! The audio is captured to the built-in hard disk drive as digital audio data—with absolutely noise-free audio quality. With computer and audio editing software, you can also edit the sound file as needed, and then re-import it to the Tyros4. Since the created audio data is saved in WAV file format, you can easily share your performances over the Internet or burn your own original CD. The instrument also supports MP3 data, allowing you to play back files in that popular format.

Voices
You’ll hear something different as soon as you play Tyros4’s classical choir Voices: the sound is incredibly natural thanks to Ambient Sampling. For sampling, microphones are normally positioned close to the instrument to capture a direct sound which includes very little of the rooms ambience. For Tyros4’s new classical choirs, the microphone positions were carefully adjusted to capture not only the sound of the choir but also the ambience of the room, resulting in unprecedented clarity and realism of sound.
Together with technologies such as Super Articulation, Tyros4’s pop vocals use Yamaha’s latest voicing technology, Wave Cycling, to bring hugely versatile vocal creativity to your performances. Tyros4 is packed with different vocal articulations such as Aah, Bah, Bee, Doh etc., and Wave Cycling varies the articulation of the Voice as you play. This means that you can now play incredibly realistic “shoo-bee-doo-bah” and scat vocals with remarkable ease!
Tyros4's acoustic grand piano is based on the world famous Yamaha CFIIIs Concert Grand. Multi sampling has been used to provide natural expressive tonal changes with velocity, and a new touch curve makes it incredibly easy to hit the sweet spots of the piano voice. Super Articulation adds damper pedal sustain samples and key-off sounds.
A full classical bowed string orchestra of 1st violins, 2nd violins, violas, cellos and contrabasses, with sections overlapping creating a full rich sound. There are three dynamic levels and Super Articulation provides legato phrasing.

A new Euro Organ joins the Sine and Vintage Organ Types in the Organ Flutes category. For each Organ Type, nine flute pitches can be combined and effects such as percussion and vibrato can be added to produce a huge range of sounds.

The Style features Auto Accompaniment, letting you produce automatic accompaniment playback simply by playing “chords” with your left hand. This lets you automatically recreate the sound of a full band or orchestra?even if you’re playing by yourself!

Transport yourself back to ballroom dancing of the 1950s with this up tempo quickstep style.
Typically French in character, this mid tempo style is great for swing standards.
Marches are a staple of both concert and marching bands, with the American marches of John Phillips Sousa perhaps being the most widely heard. With a brass and woodwind heavy arrangement suitable to the sound of either a marching band or concert band, this style will work equally well in accompanying a Sousa march or, for example, a college fight song.
Smooth is definitely the perfect word to describe this style. Whether you use it to play jazz or pop, what you'll get is a laid back sound with sparse, tasteful drumming, bass and guitar over which you're free to play your own solos.
The disco music of the 70s is all about big speakers, big shoes, and living the high life: at heart, disco is all about celebration. And with an unmistakable treble heavy disco guitar, along with funky bass and horn lines this style is perfect for celebrating anything at all.
Some of the biggest ballads of the 60s came out of Detroit and Motown records. Detroit put a distinctive soulful pop spin on ballads in songs like “My Girl”, and “I Second That Emotion” that you can hear in this style. Using lots of backing vocals alongside prominent drums and horns, the Motown sound is unique but sounds great accompanying a wide variety of ballads.
A cappella music appears most often these days in the form of barbershop and vocal jazz. The a cappella swing sound has been taken up recently by groups like Take 6 and the Manhattan Transfer, and this style is a perfect accompaniment to use in creating your own a cappella tracks. Using only human voices for harmony and finger snaps for percussion, this style recreates the sound of a barbershop quartet with amazing realism and expressiveness. Add your own voice to create new “a capella” songs!
With the youthful rebellion of exciting, raucous music and the dance to go along with it, the twist sums up perfectly the feel of early rock and roll. You can easily create the same feel easily with this style, which puts doo wop backing vocals at the forefront of the accompaniment. For a more piano heavy take on the twist, try the 60s Twist style.
A more relaxed yet precocious style of Big Band music had taken shape in the 1950’s. Pioneered by band leaders such as Count Basie, 50’s era swing produced amazing musicians like Buddy Rich, Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, and too many others to name. This Style has a gentle, matter-of-fact swing quality that makes it really unique. Clarinet voices are featured prominently in addition to a breathtakingly authentic Big Band brass section, and the world famous Yamaha piano sound.
Memphis Soul Music of the 1960’s and 70»s was defined by artists like Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, and Booker T. & The M.G.”s. This upbeat Style showcases the groovy bass and “in the pocket” drums that are the foundation of the Memphis Sound. With this Style’s sultry organ and funky horn voices you’ll have all the tools to make shimmering soul music!

You really can’t talk about Reggae music without talking about Bob Marley. The Wailers, (a band featuring Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer) successfully made the transition through Ska and Rocksteady music before becomming one of the most quintessential Reggae groups of all time. The Reggae Jam Premium Style is inspired by one of Bob Marley and the Wailers biggest hits: “Jamming”, though it is extremely versatile in the Reggae genre. This Style features electric piano, warm organ, and vintage guitar sounds so you can jam along!
Boogaloo is a Latin music genre that was popular in the US in the 1960’s. This style of music was born in New York City when R&B and Soul music was mixed with Mambo and Son Montuno grooves. The biggest Boogaloo hit from the 60’s was “Bang Bang” by the Joe Cuba Sextet. The Hip Boogaloo Premium Style captures the rhythm and pairs it with bright piano, jazz organ, and saxophone voices!
80s RootRock2 is a versatile style with a strong backbeat in 4/4 time and It works great for any I, IV, V song structure. Featured lead voices include rock saxophone and a soaring rock guitar!
SynthPop took shape in the late 70’s and early 80’s as a sub genre of the New Wave movement, due to the introduction and commercial acceptance of electronic instruments. This style features a classic driving electronic 16 beat, synth strings, and muted synth bass, that bring to mind SynthPop groups such as The Human League, Erasure, Depeche Mode, and the Thompson Twins.
I have been playing with this style all day! It’s a burning hot blues rock style with some unexpected bells and whistles! Status Rock was inspired by the 1977 Classic Rock hit “Rockin’ All Over The World” by Status Quo(Though written and originally recorded by John Fogerty). The driving blues rock vibe of this Style gives it a real fist-pumping quality, which is complimented by the subtle vocal harmonies that enter the second variation.
My favorite variation is the fourth, where the entire Style transforms to give us dramatic synchronized hits that create a high energy moment, while leaving space for little bluesy licks.
The One Touch Voice Settings could not be more perfectly paired! You get two scorching lead guitars, a rock organ, and a golden saxophone! Check out the demonstration video below, but the fun won’t really start until you load Status Rock into your Yamaha keyboard!
The softer side of rock is no less versatile. Here we have a light, airy Style that lends itself easily to ballads, but it suits any mid-tempo piano rock tune with a few taps of the tempo button. Though this Style is based on Katie Melua’s “The Closest Thing To Crazy”, I quickly played through some of my favorite ballads including “Everything I Do(I Do It For You)” and “Unchained Melody”, just to have fun trying some familiar songs with a new Style.
Soft Piano Beat builds consistently through each variation, with One Touch Settings that match the added layers of complexity with subtle intensity. Featured voices include the world famous Yamaha Grand Piano, soothing flutes, and a warm string section.
This Style has a great “oompah” vibe with a “tic toc” 8 beat feel. Inspired by the 1967 Eurovision Song Contest winner “Puppet On A String” by Sandie Shaw, 60’s EuroPop nods to a time when pop music was really orchestral. You’ll find that this Style has been thoughtfully programmed with the perfect voices to reproduce this signature sound, including symphony horns, flutes, a woodwind section, and a string section. Try 60’s EuroPop with some simple major chord progressions and use it to practice your scales, or try to capture the magic of the sweet late 60's orchestral pop.
Baker Beat was inspired by the 1978 hit song “Baker Street” from ex Stealers Wheel frontman Gerry Rafferty. This style captures the essence of the song perfectly without compromising the versatility that allows Styles to be used for other songs. The light congas add so much to the rhythm of this style, giving it just the right amount of groove. Featured voices include a rock sax (perfect for the ripping lead of Baker Street), suitcase electric piano, and wire synth lead.
Here we have a mid-tempo soul groove that starts off sparse in the first variation. The sound grows exponentially through each variation, adding piano, gospel vocals, and handclaps, while the drums switch from a snare hit on the 2nd and 4th beat to that classic 4 beat snare rhythm that was so popular in 1960's soul music. Featured voices include a vintage electric piano, organ, blues guitar, and a growling saxophone!
This Style was inspired by the hit song “Take It To The Limit” by the Eagles. The first variation is a mild 6-8 with crisp studio drums, warm piano and some lovely string section pads. As the Style progresses through the variations, you’ll hear some slight rhythmic changes. This gives you some room to build your song’s intensity over time, and play dynamically. Featured voices include harmonica, electric piano, a warm string section, and an awesome pedal steel!
Here’s a great mid tempo Style that’s suitable for lots of Indie Rock and Pop tunes, though inspired by the Arctic Monkey’s smash hit “Fluorescent Adolescent”. The drums have a really groovy rock feel that plays around with 16 beats on the high hat, and the rhythm is carried by a moving bass line, consistent rhythm guitar, and some melodic guitar accents. The energy of this Style is positively toe-tapping, with featured voices that include 2 different electric guitar tones, a rockin' sax and warm organ.
This Style was inspired by the song “Mr. Blue Sky” by Electric Light Orchestra, and it has all the bells and whistles! The Style grows in intensity beginning with 8 beat handclaps in the first variation, and finishing up with those awesome hits on the first and second beats in the fourth variation. This Style is absolutely driving, and features a Yamaha grand piano voice, in addition to a bright synth lead, a vocal patch, and ripping lead guitar!
